Dinner with friends, a literacy circle, a musical performance – happening in the comforts of your home: Star architect David Chipperfield has managed to revive a piece of the 19th century „salon life“ with Palais Varnhagen by creating salon-appartements with spacious presentation areas and an interior reflecting this intention, with ceiling-high double-wing doors, beautiful panel parquet flooring and airy ceilings rising over three meters. At the reception the concierge welcomes residents and visitors, assisting with queries or assignments at any time. While salon life can blossom in the living and dining area, arranged with communicative seating, a simple partitioning preserves the resident’s sense of privacy. The spacious bed room comes with a luxury double bed (180 x 200) and a small work / study desk on the window side. A built-in wardrobe offers plenty of room for storage. The kitchen is kept in warm colours and the high quality built-in appliances provide for a user-friendly experience. There is an induction cooker, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a dining table. High quality materials determine the interior of the bathroom as well. Colour and make of walls and flooring as well as bathtub and shower cabin correspondent, high-quality fittings resonate the elegance. More storage space can be found in the utility room beside the entrance, where also washing machine and dryer are located. Modern solar control glazing and a video intercom system complete the high-quality furnishings of the salon apartment. Parking can be booked seperately (120 Euro / month).

Location

The ‘Palais’ has been named after Rahel Varnhagen (1771–1833) - the Grande Dame of Berlin salon life. Only a few houses away from here, she hosted guests like Heinrich Heine, Friedrich Schlegel, Adelbert von Chamisso, Wilhelm und Alexander Humboldt as well as well as barons and princes. As it was then, Französische Strasse is a very special location still today: You can’t live more central in Berlin. Only one street further there is the Komische Oper, and towards South, along Friedrichstrasse, there is the famous Checkpoint Charlie. Towards North you can pass is the subway station Friedrichstraße (U6 Tram 12/M1), cross the river Spree and arrive at Friedrichstadt Palast. In South West there is Potsdamer Platz and the greens of Berliner Tiergarten, both also accessible by foot. Next subway station: Französische Straße (U6)
